Julie’s Cherry Chocolate Cake



  • 1 Box of Devil’s Food Cake
  • 1 Large Can of cherry pie filling
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp of Almond Extract


  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Cake – Pre-heat oven to 350, Mix the cake ingredients by hand being careful not to cut up cherries. Bake in 13×9 for 25 minutes or until done

Bring sugar, butter and milk to a boil and let boil for 2 minutes or more. Remove from heat and add chips, stir until smooth and melted. Let cool slightly and pour over hot cake.

** Mom says don’t let the icing cool too much or else it gets dull. But let it cool enough that it will set up evenly on the cake. If it is too hot it will all run to the sides.
