Best Sugar Cookies

Standard

Not a big fan of sugar cookies, but these are the best I’ve ever tasted. Got this recipe from my friend’s Grandma.

  • 1 cup butter (absolutely no substitutes)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 t almond
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1t almond
  • 2 T half and half
  1. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  2. Beat in cream and add vanilla and almond.
  3.  Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and gradually add to the cream mixture.
  4. Cover and refridgerate for 4 hours or until easy to handle
  5. On a floured surface roll dough to 1/8 inch thick cut with cookie cutters dipped in flour.
  6. Place on sheet 1 inch apart and bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned

Frosting –

  1. In a mixing bowl cream butter, sugar, vanilla and almond, add cream to achieve desired frosting consistency. Add food coloring if desired
