Aunt Flora’s Beef Rouladen
  • 1 round steak or thin slices of beef
  • 1lb raw bacon
  • 6 dill pickles
  • 1 large onion diced
  • mustard
  • salt, pepper
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2Tablespoon flour
  • 1cup milk
 
-cut round steak in 2×6″ strips
-coat with flour pound meat with mallet until 1/4” thick.
-lay strips flat, on each strip place 2 slices of bacon,diced dill pickles,diced onion and mustard sprinkle with salt and pepper.
-roll each strip carefully enclosing bacon, pickles,and onions tie each roll closed with cotton thread.
-coat rolls with flour and fry in 1/4 cup oil until brown
– add water to cover rolls and simmer 1 hour or until tender.
-add 2 Tbsp flour mixed in 1 cup milk into liquid to thicken and to make gravy
